Mission, Vision, Values
Approved by the Board of Directors on May 19, 2026
The CPP’s Mission, Vision and Values were refreshed to clarify who we are today, where we are headed, and how we want to work together in the years ahead. Grounded in CPP’s long-standing roots of fellowship, goodwill, and aid, this framework brings our foundational statements into one cohesive, modern whole and gives the organization a clearer, shared direction for governance, planning, and communication.
Mission
(Why we exist: what we do, for whom, and why.)
To strengthen and connect Canada’s motion picture community across generations through compassionate assistance, industry fellowship, and public understanding.
Vision
(The long-term impact or future state we aspire to create.)
A resilient and united Canadian motion picture community where the theatrical experience continues to inspire connection and opportunity.
Values
(The seven lived behaviours that guide our actions, decisions, and culture.)
- Show Compassion in Action – We respond to need with dignity, discretion, and practical support.
- We know we’re living this value when we see people responding quickly and respectfully to those in need.
- Build Community Through Connection – We invest in genuine relationships across the industry and generations.
- We know we’re living this value when we see people creating space for others to belong and connect.
- Honour the Legacy by Growing the Next Generation – We preserve what was built before us while creating opportunities for those who come next.
- We know we’re living this value when we see people mentoring, sharing knowledge, and opening doors for emerging talent.
- Communicate with Clarity and Integrity – We tell the truth plainly and make sure others understand our purpose and impact.
- We know we’re living this value when we see people communicating transparently and clearly.
- Serve with Responsible Stewardship – We use resources wisely to maximize the support we provide.
- We know we’re living this value when we see people making decisions that favour sustainable impact over short-term convenience.
- Celebrate the People Behind the Picture – We champion the contributions of all who make Canadian cinema possible.
- We know we’re living this value when we see people recognizing contributions publicly and sincerely.
- Champion the Theatrical Experience – We stand for cinema as a shared theatrical experience and for the exhibitors and communities who bring it to life.
- We know we’re living this value when we see people speaking proudly about theatrical cinema, supporting exhibitors across the country, and making decisions that strengthen the theatre-going experience.
Together, these values give CPP a practical framework for decision-making and help keep us aligned in the way we work, lead, and serve our community.
