Your Support at Work: A First Look at our 2026 Impact

Dear Pioneers,

One of the most powerful things about the Canadian Picture Pioneers is how quietly and consistently our community shows up for one another. Your dues, donations, and sponsorships make it possible for us to help industry colleagues through difficult moments – often when they have nowhere else to turn.

Already in 2026, your support has made a real difference.

Thanks to the generosity of our members and partners, the Pioneers are currently helping multiple individuals in our community stabilize their lives and move forward. This includes covering rent for a single parent working hard to keep their family secure during a challenging period. We are also supporting a young individual with no family network as they work to complete their post-secondary education.

In addition, we’ve been able to provide grocery and essentials gift cards to people facing short-term financial strain: small gestures that can make a meaningful difference when times are tight.

And we’re not stopping there. We’re exploring additional ways to give back, including new initiatives that could expand how we support the well-being of our community and those around it.

This is the impact of a community that takes care of its own. If you know someone in our industry who may be going through a difficult time, please encourage them to reach out to me directly and confidentially. The Pioneers are here to help.

Calendar of Events

Alongside this support, our 2026 calendar of community events is beginning to take shape, offering opportunities to reconnect, celebrate our industry, and sustain the work we do together:

• PW Speaker Series (featuring Joanna Griffiths and host Teri Hart) – April 8 – Windsor Arms Hotel
• Annual General Meeting | Cocktail Mix & Mingle – April 30 – Cineplex Cinemas Varsity and VIP
• Summer Social – Coming in June
• Golf Tournament – August 20 – Rolling Hills Golf Club
• Awards Dinner – November 12 – Delta Hotel Toronto

We’re also preparing for the return of one of our most meaningful programs. Applications for the Student Assistance Awards open this summer, with $150,000 in bursaries available to help people working in cinema and related fields pursue further education.

Every dollar raised through membership, donations, and sponsorship helps make this important work possible. Your continued support ensures we can respond when someone in our industry needs help most.
